Katie Barteaux

As a hairstylist with 20+ years of experience, Katie is a Redken Certified Hair Colourist and Master Instructor, who recently taught Cosmetology for 3 years.

​

She has worked at many hair shows, volunteered for cut-a-thons for charity, and styled hair at the Junos in 2006.

​

Her favourite 'trend' today is to help you showcase whatever your true style is. "Anything goes right now, and I love trying it all!"

​

From clipper cuts to curly locks, or low maintenance colour, foliage, lived in rich tones, to fun fashion colour, she's got you!

Her clients always have great laughs and chats. She never skips the relaxing scalp massage and always recommends a treatment for your healthiest hair!

She loves to travel, cook and talk recipes - all things health and wellness. Katie cannot wait to see you in her chair!

Lindsey Toner

Beautiful hair, good vibes, and a little time just for you — that’s what Lindsey is all about.

With a passion for blonding, dimensional highlights, hair extensions, and bridal styling. Lindsey loves creating customized looks that leave her clients feeling confident, beautiful, and completely themselves. As a certified Majestix Genius Weft extension stylist, she loves helping clients achieve their dream hair, whether that means adding length, creating fullness, or achieving that perfect, seamless blend.

But for Lindsey, it’s about so much more than great hair. She’s always had a soft spot for taking care of people. Whether it’s making sure her clients feel comfortable, sharing a good laugh, giving them a head massage they’ll rave about, or making sure nobody leaves hungry, she loves making people feel looked after in all the little ways that matter.

Known for her good conversations and welcoming personality, Lindsey wants every appointment to feel like a little time just for you. Whether you're in the mood to chat and catch up on life or simply relax and enjoy some well-deserved quiet time, she's happy to make your appointment whatever you need it to be.

Outside the salon, Lindsey is a proud wife, mom to three beautiful children, and a huge animal lover. When she's not behind the chair, you'll most likely find her driving from one sporting event to the next, cheering on her 3 kids and proudly being the loudest one in the stands! Family, connection, and making people feel good are a big part of who she is, both inside and outside the salon.

Lindsey's goal is for every client to leave feeling refreshed, confident, and absolutely in love with their hair — with a little extra happiness thrown in for good measure. Because beautiful hair is wonderful, but feeling truly looked after is what makes the experience special

Megan MacDonald

Meet Megan!  Megan became a hair stylist in 2000 and has found a career she genuinely enjoys—one that lets her be creative, connect with people, and never have quite the same day twice.

After moving to East Hants, Megan joined the Strides team in 2022 and has loved becoming part of the community. She started her hairstyling career during the pandemic, which came with its own set of challenges, but also taught her how to adapt, keep learning, and make the most of whatever comes her way.

Megan loves that hairstyling gives her the chance to do a little bit of everything. She enjoys creating colour and foils, giving a fresh new cut, and especially getting creative with special occasion styles. She loves helping clients find a look that feels like them and leaves them feeling confident.

Outside of the salon, Megan’s life is centred around her faith, family, and the things she enjoys. Being a Christian and serving at her church are a big part of who she is and how she spends her time. She loves spending time with her husband and son, and is also a proud dog mom. When she does find a little time for herself, she enjoys baking, reading, and playing the fiddle or piano. Life can be pretty full, but she’s grateful for all the little moments in between.

Emily Gale

Emily is a hairstylist and CBBC Halifax graduate who has been doing hair since 2024. Over that time, she’s found a real love for vivid colour, bridal and special-event updos, and alternative and inclusive cuts.

She loves creating hair that feels unique to each person, whether you’re looking for something bold and colourful, a fresh new cut, or a low-maintenance style that grows out beautifully. Emily especially enjoys working with clients who want to try something different and have fun with their hair. She is also passionate about educating her clients on hair and scalp care as well as maintaining their beautiful and vibrant colour!

In addition to her love of all things hair, she is also an advocate for mental health needs. She believes that hair care is essential for everyone and is committed to creating a safe and inclusive space for all her clients. 

When Emily isn't cutting or colouring hair, you can find her with her 2-year-old pup Faye and her husband Jeff relaxing at home. Emily also loves roller derby, crystals and reading!

Ava Chatfield

Ava grew up in East Hants and is proud to still call Belnan home. After graduating from Hants East Rural High School, she recently completed her studies at the Academy of Cosmetology, graduating as a Hair Stylist in August.

Ava is passionate about the hair industry and loves creating beautiful, personalized looks for her clients. Her favourite services include blonding, layered haircuts, balayage, foliage, children’s and senior cuts, face framing, and adding that special “money piece” to brighten and enhance your look.

​

When Ava isn’t behind the chair, you’ll often find her dancing! She has been dancing since the age of three and continues to dance and teach locally at Dance Zone in Elmsdale.

With her friendly, hardworking, positive, and outgoing personality, Ava is excited to bring her passion and creativity to the Strides team. We’re so happy to have her with us and can’t wait for you to meet her!
